TikTok Shop's Holiday Season: A Brand Playbook

TikTok Shop's Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaign runs 11 to 30 November. What the biggest holiday season yet means for brands selling on social in SEA.

TikTok Shop's Holiday Season: A Brand Playbook

Short answer

TikTok Shop's dedicated Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaign runs from 11 to 30 November this year, a day earlier than last year, and live selling is again at the centre of it, according to Modern Retail's report. The lesson for a brand of 10 to 200 people in Singapore or Southeast Asia is not the US calendar. It is that the tiktok shop holiday season is won by brands that treat live selling and creator content as a scheduled operation, not a campaign.

What happened

Modern Retail reports that TikTok Shop US is preparing for what it hopes will be its biggest holiday season yet. The platform's Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaign starts on 11 November and runs to 30 November, beginning a day earlier than last year. This is the first holiday season in which large retailers such as Best Buy, Ulta Beauty and Sephora will sell on the platform, and shoppers can use TikTok Shop's new AI assistant to browse and buy gifts. TikTok Shop data cited in the piece says nearly a third of US TikTok users expect to buy a gift this Black Friday, and holiday content is already climbing: #holidayshopping posts rose 263% from August to September. Live selling stays central. During the 2025 four-day Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend, TikTok Shop sales surpassed $500 million, and sellers hosting livestreams saw 84% year-over-year sales growth across more than 760,000 sessions, per the platform's press release. Brands quoted are betting on TikTok Shop-exclusive products and creator partnerships: Beachwaver with creator Preslee Faith, Advent calendars from Tarte and E.l.f. Cosmetics, and seasonal livestreams from Old Navy.

Why it matters for a consumer brand selling on social in Southeast Asia

The campaign is a US one, and we should say that plainly. What travels is the shape of the season, and it is already visible in Singapore, the Philippines and the wider region: discovery and purchase happening in the same feed, live sessions carrying a disproportionate share of sales, and big names crowding the same shelf as you.

Three things change in practice for a brand of 10 to 200 people.

The feed gets more expensive. When large retailers enter a platform with dedicated holiday budgets, cost per acquisition on paid social rises in the same weeks you want to spend. The brands that hold their ROAS are the ones with a live and creator layer feeding the paid media, not the ones bidding hardest on cold traffic.

Live selling becomes a calendar problem, not a talent problem. The reported 84% year-over-year growth for livestreaming sellers across more than 760,000 sessions is a volume story. Sessions compound. A brand that runs two well-prepared lives a week from early November beats one that runs a single four-hour marathon on Black Friday with no rehearsal.

Exclusives do the differentiating. Beachwaver's TikTok Shop-only curling iron, Tarte's and E.l.f.'s Advent calendars: each gives a shopper a reason to buy on the platform rather than search the same product elsewhere. You do not need a new SKU. A bundle, a set, a colourway or a gift-with-purchase that exists only on TikTok Shop does the same job and is far cheaper to build.

Our view is unchanged: social is worth doing only when it sells. Reach and views are inputs. Sales, ROAS and customer acquisition are the result, and during a crowded holiday season the gap between the two widens.

What to do about it

  • Fix the calendar first. Map every live session, creator post and paid flight from the first week of November to the end of the campaign window. Put it in one document that the brand, the host and the media buyer all work from.
  • Build one exclusive. A bundle, a set or a gift-with-purchase that only exists on TikTok Shop. Price it so the margin still works after platform fees, and check the fee schedule as the platform publishes it rather than assuming last quarter's numbers.
  • Rehearse the live. Script the first ten minutes, the offer stack and the call to action. A host who knows the product and the bundle converts better than a host reading a discount code.
  • Brief creators on the offer, not just the product. The reported brands pair creator content with a specific launch date. Give your creators the date, the bundle and the hook, and let them make the content in their own voice.
  • Tie paid social to the live and creator output. Boost the sessions and posts that already convert. Do not run paid and live as separate budgets with separate reporting.
  • Measure by session and by creator. Sales, conversion rate, AOV and ROAS per live session and per creator post. Cut what does not move units within two cycles.
  • Keep a person in the loop on the AI side. TikTok Shop's AI assistant helps shoppers browse. Your own use of AI should do the repetitive work, scheduling, reporting, variant testing, while a human makes the offer and selling decisions.

Where it does not apply, or what to be careful of

This is a US campaign. The dates and the named retailers are US-specific. Do not copy the 11 November start into a Southeast Asian plan without checking what your local TikTok Shop market is actually running. The platform publishes campaign calendars per market; use those.

Live selling is not for every brand. If your average order value is very low and your margin thin, the host cost and production time can eat the return. If your product needs considered explanation and a long sales cycle, a live session may not be the right first investment. Creator content and paid social can carry you through the season while you build the live capability for next year.

Exclusives can cannibalise. A TikTok Shop-only bundle can pull sales away from your own store or a marketplace listing where you keep the customer relationship. Decide deliberately where you want the customer to land, and price so the channels do not undercut each other.

Do not read the reported growth figures as a forecast for your account. The $500 million weekend and the 84% livestream growth are platform-wide numbers from a prior year. Your results depend on your category, your offer and your execution.

Watch the operational load. A holiday live schedule strains a small team. Confirm who hosts, who handles comments and orders, who manages stock across channels, and what happens when a session sells out a SKU mid-stream. The common failure is not the stream itself but the re-keying of orders and stock afterwards. Connect the shop, the inventory and the reporting before the season starts, not during it.

Takeaway

TikTok Shop's holiday season rewards brands that plan live selling and creator content as an operation with a calendar, an exclusive offer and a measurement loop, not a burst of discounting in the last week of November. The US campaign dates are not yours, but the playbook is. Decide now what you will run, who sells it, and how you will know by December whether it worked. frequently asked questions

01

When does TikTok Shop's holiday campaign run?

According to Modern Retail, TikTok Shop's dedicated Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaign kicks off on 11 November and runs until 30 November, a day earlier than last year.

02

Do I need to make a TikTok Shop-exclusive product?

No. The brands in the report are using exclusives and creator partnerships to stand out in a crowded feed, but that suits brands with product development capacity and a creator relationship already in place. A brand with a small range can compete on live selling cadence and bundle design instead.

03

Is live selling worth it for a small brand?

It depends on whether you can staff it consistently and measure it properly. Live selling rewards frequency and a host who can sell, not just a camera. If you cannot commit to a regular schedule through the season, put the budget into creator content and paid social instead.

04

Does the US campaign affect sellers in Singapore and Southeast Asia?

Not directly. The campaign described is TikTok Shop US. But the playbook, live-led discovery, exclusives and creator partnerships, is the same one that plays out in Southeast Asian markets, and the platform's direction of travel usually arrives here too.

05

What should I measure during the holiday season?

Sales, ROAS and customer acquisition cost by channel and by live session. Reach and views are inputs. If a live session or creator post does not move units, cut it rather than repeat it.
